International Fashion Designer Priyanka Mallick Advocates for Peace at Rome MED Dialogues 2024
Rome, Italy – International fashion designer Priyanka Mallick joined the prestigious Rome MED Dialogues, held from November 25 to 27, 2024, as an advocate for peace amidst rising and ongoing crises in the Middle East. Organized by the Italian Institute of International Political Studies (ISPI), this year’s conference occurred at a critical juncture for the region, bringing together over 2,000 participants, including ministers, international leaders, and representatives from media, business, academia, and civil society.

Priyanka Mallick, a member of the United Nations for International Affairs and The Royal Commonwealth Society of the United Kingdom, shared her message of hope and solidarity during the event. Known for her commitment to using art and fashion as a vehicle for change, she continues to emphasize the importance of diplomacy and collaboration in resolving conflicts.
This year’s conference was especially significant, marked by the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah during the event. This breakthrough served as a powerful reminder of both the potential and the fragility of diplomacy in achieving lasting peace.

“I am deeply honored to participate in such a transformative dialogue. At this pivotal moment, we must strengthen our collective resolve to foster peace and harmony, particularly in the Middle East, where the challenges are immense yet not insurmountable,” Priyanka said.

Priyanka also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her respected and loving husband, Prof. Dr. Susanta Banerjee, whom she described as her “entire cosmos” and “supreme Sun,” adding, “I am only his reflection, like moonlight.” His unwavering support has been a cornerstone of her success and advocacy.
Hailing from Badinan, Hooghly, West Bengal, India, Priyanka has achieved global recognition as a fashion designer and peace advocate. Her education spans prestigious institutions, including Milan Italy, UNITAR Switzerland, Harvard University, Stanford University, and Cambridge universities, with an honorary doctorate in Pop Cultural Studies. She has used her platform to advocate for peace through her artwork and designs, most notably her recent piece Harmony’s Crown of Mother Nature, which symbolizes global harmony and resilience.
Her achievements include designing a coronation dress for Her Majesty The Queen Camilla and a brooch for His Majesty King Charles III, along with numerous international awards such as the Messenger of Peace Award by International Scout, United Nations.
Rome MED Dialogues provided an invaluable platform for Priyanka to share her vision of peace while engaging with world leaders and experts. Attended by the President and Prime Minister of Italy, the conference underscored the urgent need for solutions to the region’s most pressing issues.
