Megha Kwatra Madan journey as an Artist of Bakery?
I began my journey a decade ago, leaving my career in dentistry to follow my passion for creativity. Starting “Cake O’ Luv” marked a new chapter, where I transformed my love for baking into a profession.
What are the challenges you have faced to be in this position?
The journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. From mastering intricate techniques to balancing creative freedom with market expectations, every step has been a learning experience. Overcoming self-doubt, facing health issues, managing time, and constantly innovating were some of the biggest challenges I faced to reach where I am today.
How do cultural influences shape your baking techniques and flavor combinations, and can you provide examples of specific traditions that inspire your work?
Cultural heritage plays a significant role in my work. For instance, incorporating Indian spices like cardamom or saffron into cakes adds a unique twist. Festivals like Holi inspire colorful designs, while traditions like weddings influence intricate detailing and grandeur in multi-tier cakes.
In what ways do you balance creativity and precision in baking, and how do you navigate the tension between following recipes and experimenting with new ideas?
Baking is a blend of art and science. I rely on precision for foundational recipes but allow creativity to take center stage when it comes to flavors, textures, and designs. Experimentation is key, but I ensure the balance by testing and refining my ideas before presenting them to clients.
Your favorite desserts which you always wanted to eat?
I have a soft spot for classic desserts like French macarons, a rich dark chocolate soufflé, and seasonal fruit pavlovas. They’re timeless, indulgent, and always on my wishlist.
What does baking mean to you?
Baking is my language of love and self-expression. It’s a canvas where I can blend passion, creativity, and precision to bring joy to others. For me, it’s not just about creating desserts—it’s about crafting edible art that tells a story.
You are the winner of Master Cake Artist of the Year Asia? Talk with us about that?
Winning the title of Master Cake Artist of the Year Asia was an incredible honor. It validated the years of dedication, sleepless nights, and meticulous attention to detail. The recognition not only boosted my confidence but also motivated me to keep innovating and pushing boundaries in the art of cake making.
How does your passion for baking influence your creative process, and in what ways does it drive you to overcome challenges or setbacks in your culinary journey?
Passion fuels everything I do in baking. It helps me see challenges as opportunities to grow and setbacks as lessons. It drives me to pour my heart into every cake, experiment with bold ideas, and continuously improve. Baking is not just a profession for me—it’s a constant pursuit of excellence.
