Kamay Lafalaise, a Season 14 contestant on ‘MasterChef: Generations,’ describes herself as an attorney whose food Gordon Ramsay “will not object to.” The 34-year-old privacy lawyer works in public service and legal education in Washington, D.C. The FOX show amateur chef takes pride in being a sharp lawyer, but food nourishes her soul.
She grew up in South Florida in a small apartment and began cooking at a young age. As she explained on her website, her grandmother encouraged her to begin cooking at an early age. When Kamay is not working, she enjoys preparing unique nightly dinners and hosting parties for friends and family.
Kamay chose to compete in the cooking competition instead of her honeymoon. She brought her wife Emily and father to support her. Despite Gordon Ramsay describing it as a “huge sacrifice,” Kamay announced that she and her wife will celebrate after winning the FOX show. Kamay and Emily enjoy traveling, tending to their urban garden, and doting on their orange tabby cat, Felix.

Seeing their work ethic and challenges at a young age inspired Kamay Lafalaise to choose higher education and public service for the majority of her life. However, in recent years, Kamay has also prioritized her passion for the culinary arts as a way to commemorate her grandmothers and Haitian ancestry.
Kamay started cooking around the age of ten in Florida, when her grandmother encouraged her to attempt making Haitian Spaghetti. Kamay honed her cooking skills by frequently watching the Food Network and notable chefs like Gordon Ramsay.
Kamay has already had numerous remarkable accomplishments, both professionally and in the public eye. The first challenge of MasterChef: Generations required competitors to recreate their favorite childhood comfort cuisine. Kamay earned the top dish for her generation (Millennials) by preparing Haitian Marinated Fried Chicken with Sos Pwa Rouge, Rice, and Pickled Peppers.
Kamay Lafalaise comforting creation honored her history while also shining a positive light on Haitian cuisine, which is often overlooked.
